Gene Stanlee, known as "Mr. America," was a major box-office attraction for the Capitol Wrestling Corporation during the 1950s. A pioneer of showmanship, he was famous for his elite bodybuilding physique, elaborate ring attire, and dramatic entrances that helped set the stage for future superstars. Stanlee was a frequent headliner at Madison Square Garden, where his popularity helped establish the foundational success of the promotion that would become WWE.
